WEEK 4: Task 5.2: "Critical Thinking, The Soul of Communication"

According to the excerpt from the article “Critical Thinking: The Soul of Communication” ineffective communication will incur heavy losses in any company as well as diminish the critical thinking skills of its employees.

As a future leader, I find communication very important to me as any form of miscommunication will result in the cause of fatal accidents or mistakes in the workplace. If instructions are not passed down in the way that everyone will be able to understand simply, it may result in incorrect work or cause accidents. This will not only cause monetary loss to the company as mentioned in the excerpt, but it will also damage the company’s reputation

Furthermore, if there is a lack of communication in the team, I find that it will reduce the employees’ critical thinking skills. They would not know the intentions of the upper management as key information may not be passed down to them. They would not be able to proactively carry out their work and will need to constantly question their superiors’ intentions.

Hence, communication and critical thinking is important within the workplace so that work can be carried out effectively and everyone will be able to work in harmony.
